To ensure IEC is able to address your student's need and for you to determine if IEC is the right "fit" for your student or self, I offer a complimentary
20-minute phone call to go over any questions you may have about the process.
During our first in-person consultation, an extensive interview with family will take place to gather all information regarding your student's needs. Here, you will review and sign all consent forms, work collaboratively to create a plan for assessment, evaluation and counseling (if requested). You will be provided with all initial paperwork to begin the evaluation process.
*Assessment fees are dependent on the individual's area of academic, processing, or social-emotional concern.
If you are a student going into college, or an adult returning to college, and have had difficulty academically or socially in the past, IEC offers diagnostic evaluations to help you better understand where your patterns of strengths and weaknesses lie. Going through the evaluation process can provide valuable information regarding your learning style.
The finalized assessment report can be submitted to the College Board (HS students) when requesting certain accommodations (i.e., use of a calculator, extended time on AP exams, SAT or ACT exams) or College entrance exams (i.e., GRE, MCAT, etc.)
Depending on assessment results, you may qualify for accommodations or a Section 504 to support your student's access to exam content. Some examples of accommodations you would find on a Section 504 is text-to-speech (or read aloud), extended time to take the exam or breaks throughout the exam process.
We offer Independent Education Evaluations (IEE) for parents seeking an outside and/or second-opinion regarding a school evaluation. Attaining an IEE can be essential to ensuring that your child receives the appropriate diagnosis and services. IEC strives to ensure our reports are up to the specific school board standards.
IEC offers a complete service that includes assessing and evaluating your student for learning disabilities (i.e., academic, cognitive, (intelligence), auditory, visual, sensory-motor, memory, attention processing, and mental health counseling as it relates to their educational growth. IEEs are typically funded by school district.
IEC offers counseling for students who are having difficulty managing their feelings and emotions. We understand negative feelings can get in the way of maintaining a positive school experience and can interfere with friendships. Our counseling approach with clients are built on the Humanistic mental health approach of therapy, emphasizing the importance of being your true self in order to lead the most fulfilling life. IEC believes people are good at heart and able to make good choices for themselves and IEC will help guide them in those choices. Concerns with Anxiety, ADHD, and/or Autism are our specialty. Sessions are 50 minutes in length.
This 6-week program is geared to those students who struggle with mastering social skills. Each week will offer a new topic to discuss and explore the "how to's" of socialization. Topics include: introductions, building confidence, making and maintaining friendships, handling peer pressure, teaching/practicing social conversations, and teaching self-regulation skills. Group meetings are held once a week for 6 weeks.
